The Sanlam Top Destination Awards 2018 will be held at the prestigious Bay Hotel on Thursday, 20 September. Ideally located in Cape Town’s tourism hub, the five-star hotel boasts unsurpassed views across the world-renowned Camps Bay beach, making it the perfect location for a gala evening of this calibre. Sanlam Top Destination Awards was created in celebration of local hospitality personnel that have pioneered ahead of the game in the travel and tourism industry.

Your Friday night just got tastier with the launch of Shimmy Beach Club’s new weekly dinner offering. Seasoned celebrates food that is made for sharing, with a relaxed potluck-style dining experience in their 220-seater restaurant, with high ceilings and ocean views. To add some extra flavour to the experience, Shimmy resident DJ Sox will be laying down the tunes on the restaurant decks, with a live instrumental accompaniment that will change each week. The Sanlam Top Destination Awards is an annual hospitality awards program culminating in a grand gala evening, celebrating the finest establishments throughout South Africa. Founded by Granadilla Media, Creators of Discount Traveler South Africa and The Traveler Mag SA, the esteemed ceremony enters its fourth year, continuing to promote in- and out-bound tourism in South Africa.

Entries for establishments are free with automatic nomination upon listing on Discount Traveler South Africa. There are ten categories in which establishments can compete to receive the title of Top Destination in their respective star gradings: Backpackers, Bed & Breakfast, Caravans and Camping, Country House, Game Lodge, Guest House, Hotel, Lodge, Self-Catering and Farm Accommodation.
